Custom BeyerDynamics DT-880 600ohm
Finally my BeyerDynamic headphones arrived from Germany. I ordered the “Manufaktur” ones which allow you to specify bits and pieces of the headphone in whatever colour you desire. You can select from 32/250/600 ohm impedance. I went the 600 and ended up having to turn up the gain on my headphone amp (Matrix M-Stage) to 10db’s.
The headphones only look 3 weeks to build but the shipping took 2 weeks! So if you’re going to order a custom set then be sure you allow time for it to arrive! Especially important if it’s a gift. My box arrived a little squashed but it was well padded so the headphones weren’t damaged.
I don’t have golden ears but these are awesome. The clarity is great and the soundstage is much wider than the bose I had (not hard though LOL). More importantly though it is comfortable which is important for me as I wear glasses.
They are semi open back cans which means at work people can hear my music but more importantly I can hear people cough, sneeze, talk etc… Time for some closed backs for work
