Why Phottix Atlas Flash Triggers?
I’ve been using the Phottix Atlas triggers now for well over a year and I’m loving them. I know why so many others use them too with their studio strobes. They are affordable and offer reliability and performance. Unfortunately they only have it in the 433mhz frequency version available. That’s ok though as the trigger module for my sekonic light meter is also 433mhz which means they will talk to each other.
Makes it a lot more convenient. I was always of the mindset I can just carry a trigger with me but trust me once you get used to it, there is no going back! Another reason I like these over the PocketWizard Plus II is they allow you go mount a flash directly to them, they have an integrated hotshoe! No more sync ports and such.
They are also priced well and if you shoot with studio strobes and a lightmeter then I would suggest you get some Phottix Atlas’ and the Sekonic trigger module. It will make things a lot easier!
While I was writing this, I have been advised as of Feb, they are discontinued. On what accounts no one knows but one can only speculate the lawsuit that PocketWizard have on Phottix has caused mounting pressure for the Atlas to cease and desist. Get ‘em while you can.
RIP Phottix Atlas.
